Paroles de la chanson Flight Simulator par

After the tailspin, they'll find a flight simulator
Loaded into my device
And they'll wonder why I just sat there
And gave up without a fight
And all the birds they won't stop laughing
At the folly of the human race
Coz we thought that we were angels
We watched particles accelerate
And if I can't land it then I'll fuck it
Right through my exes garage
And when I'm comatose it'll be her voice that guides me through the panic
And I'll activate the landing gear
As the scenery loads in
I've seen pixilated cities
Notified my next of kin
And all this could just be fabricated
In a backlot in LA
With a television hypnotist
Playing God to compensate
Can anybody land this thing?
Shouts a voice from the abyss
Too scared to ask to evidence
I'm too confident to miss
Because it ain't about experience
If your numbers have come in
I could kick a thousand buckets
If the world wants me to live

And I visualise the impact,
That first biting of the breaks
I've landed biplanes in antarctica
Flown straight through hurricanes
And so, I look at all the buttons
They're all crystalline and new
And a voice over the radio
Introduces me to you

I say yeah, I think I got this
I've been flying my whole life
I'm the luckiest that I've ever been
And I've been looking out for signs
And I see the blinking runway
And the lights between the waves
I hold all the hands I never held
And in the clouds, I see your face
You're sort of laughing at the drama
Like you knew it all along
All those little signs that we ignored
They couldn't possibly be wrong
And I screwed up all my horoscopes
Coz I listened to the birds
Activate the landing gear
Hold me close

Waiting for it
Lean into it

And I see the blinking runway
And the lights between the waves
I hold all the hands I never held
And in the clouds, I see your face
You're sort of laughing at the drama
Like you knew it all along
All those little signs that we ignored
They couldn't possibly be wrong
And I screwed up all my horoscopes
Coz I listened to the birds
Yeah, I listened to the birds
Yeah, I listened to the birds

And the options are endless aren't they really
The sun low but still roaring on the final descent
I love that strip of moorland
Rolling and beautiful and endless
Kinda like us
... that's us, isn't it?

I'm waiting on the afterglow
I'm waiting on the afterglow
I'm waiting on the afterglow
Then I'm with you

I'm waiting on the afterglow
I'm waiting on the afterglow
I'm waiting on the afterglow
Then I'm with you

Activate the landing gear
Hold me close
Do your worst

Puis quelque chose change. Il y a un visage aperçu dans les nuages — "you're sort of laughing at the drama, like you knew it all along" (tu ris un peu du drame, comme si tu avais toujours su).

"I listened to the birds" revient comme un aveu libérateur : j'ai suivi quelque chose d'irrationnel, et c'était juste.

L'afterglow

Et puis cette phrase murmurée, presque pour soi — "that's us, isn't it ?"
